Garrett Riley’s first play call as Clemson football’s new offensive coordinator was a long pass for a new home.
The receivers for this play have a long history in orange and purple, but you won’t find them on the Tigers’ roster this fall. But you will find them on the Associates' roster for Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty.
The Kingsmore Team is made up of the father and daughter duo of Mike Kingsmore and Brittney Kingsmore Bolt. If you’re wondering if they are part of the family that shares the same name as Clemson’s home baseball stadium, then you probably have danced to the Tiger Rag a few times in your life.
Doug Kingsmore, who the stadium is named after, is Mike’s father, but the Clemson connection runs even deeper than that. Mike, his wife, their kids (including Brittney, obviously), his siblings, their spouses, and their kids all went to Clemson.
But, that’s not why they landed Garrett and his wife, Lindsay, as house hunters in January That story starts with planning and dedication, which are hallmarks of Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty. Mike and Brittney were recruited to the brokerage because of their skills, expertise, and their dedication to seeing every transaction go beyond the closing date. Basically, they rarely miss the extra point.
“I often say our business is about family, friends, and referrals,” Mike said. “And if a referral doesn’t become a friend, then I didn’t do my job.”
For two years since joining Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty, Mike and Britney have been creating and developing expert plans to sell and list houses. Those plans included meeting with high-level Clemson officials about properties from time to time.
Here is where the story enters the two-minute drill. Within minutes of Riley accepting the offer from Clemson, Mike saw a familiar number pop up on his cell phone. It was Dabo Swinney. Not an unusual occurrence since the two have been good friends for years.
This call was different. Swinney asked if a property in the Clemson area that Mike had mentioned to him still was available. It was. Though, Mike didn’t know who Dabo was asking about the property for. In the middle of all of this, Mike’s wife called to see if he had heard Clemson had hired a new offensive coordinator. Mike quickly realized that must be why Dabo was calling about the property. It was confirmed when Dabo called again from the airport where was picking up the Rileys and said “Let’s get this ball rolling!”
The next morning Mike and Brittney met with the Rileys. As it turns out, the first property wasn’t a first down so the Kingsmore team called an audible and found them a listing nearby that both loved. Touchdown!
“We were thrilled for Dabo to give us this opportunity but I'm even more excited for the relationship we've built with the Riley's. Lindsay and I became fast friends. Our children have already had a play date together, and we plan to get together often this summer,” Brittney said. “The best part of my job is enjoying the friendships formed. Clients turned close friends is what it's all about.”
Just like Clemson football, the Associates at Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty have an amazingly detailed playbook for selling or listing your home.
